Accessibility features in home design by TR Homes

Getting a home that suits your needs and wants should not mean compromise – especially when some features can have a significant impact on your life.

Flexibility in design for this Hamelin Bay home

Just ask Andrea Featherstone, a TR Homes client who, with her husband Eric, recently settled into their new Hamelin Bay home on their rural property in Pingrup, within WA’s Great Southern region.

Living with multiple sclerosis (MS), a chronic condition affecting her mobility and various aspects of her life, Andrea needed a home design that offered both flexibility and functionality.

Tailored solutions for regional West Aussies

Nathan Hollis, TR Homes’ Group Sales and Business Development Manager, emphasised that while TR Homes’ website featured a range of designs, the company’s commitment to tailoring designs to meet individual client needs ensures each house truly feels like a home.

“TR Homes’ mission is to ensure that people living in regional WA enjoy the same flexibility and options as someone building within the metro area or a major regional centre,” he said.

“Our approach at TR Homes is far from one-size-fits-all. We understand the importance of accommodating unique design features and specific requirements for our clients, such as the need for support rails in Andrea’s case,” Nathan explained.

Stylish black tapware "less clinical"

Maintaining style and aesthetic appeal was paramount in the Featherstones’ home, evidenced by the inclusion of elegant polished concrete floors and timber screening at the entrance.

“In Andrea’s case, this attention to detail extended to the support rails, which were customised to match the sleek black tapware, providing a less clinical feel than the standard chrome ones,” Nathan added.

The open-plan layout of the Hamelin Bay design also appealed to Andrea, offering future accessibility in case she requires the use of a wheelchair.

Pride in Pingrup home

Speaking to Andrea and Eric, you can sense the pride they feel in realising their dream of a modern, stylish home on their Pingrup farm – one that they and their family will enjoy for years to come.

“We wish Andrea all the very best in her journey ahead,” said Nathan. “She is an amazing person, and it was a privilege to assist her in achieving her dream home.”
